Mobile Phone or PDA ?

The processing power of mobile phones is ever increasing, and the difference between a mobile phone and a PDA is slowly becoming a thing of the past.

J2ME standard

With enough power to do something nice, developers still needed a unified view of the machine. This because you don't want to develop an application for device X and then completely have to redo the effort for machine Y. The availability of a java virtual machine greatly reduces the effort to create an application for these devices, because once you have it running on one device, it will run on all the others with only minor modifications.

Games for J2ME

There's a multitude of game development possibilities on these small devices and basically everything that you played on an arcade console in the late 80s early 90s can be done on a mobile phone. Quake is probably too much asked for these devices right now, but who knows what they'll be capable off 2 years from now.
